Love in the country

I have an empty cup,
My love lies bare on
my chest. My heart whispers
to her ear, Things my lips cannot
say. The wine is finished, The
cork is thrown, The dazing
ecstasy of fresh roses has lost
its swell, But my heart keeps
beating, My love keeps giggling.
I want anxiety to go, I want to know
what my heart has told. She looks at me
with gleamer in her eyes, Her smile is wide,
Her tears at brink, “What is it my love?”

“Your heart has stop’d beating for a time
but you are still alive. I love to listen to
your silent heart. Surely you make a
country girl know about love…”
